We couldn’t complete your voicemail setup, but don’t worry! This usually happens for simple reasons, and you can fix it in just a few steps. Follow these steps to get your voicemail working quickly:
We are working on adding new carriers to the activation list
Carriers that support Voicemail: | Carriers that do not support Voicemail: |
|---|---|
Airtel | MTNL |
Jio | Tata Communications |
Vodafone | Telenor India |
BSNL | MTS India |
1. Call Forwarding
Call forwarding means your missed are sent to another phone number, in this case, to your Truecaller Voicemail. Truecaller Voicemail will only work if your mobile operator supports call forwarding. If it doesn't, your missed calls cannot be sent to your Truecaller Voicemail.
Manual Activation steps:
If the automatic setup didn't work, here is how to manually activate Truecaller Voicemail:
1. Turn off your Wi-Fi connection on your phone.
2. Open your phone's dialer (where you make calls)
3. Dial this exact code for your mobile operator, and then press the call button. This code sets up call forwarding.
Mobile Operator | Code to Dial |
|---|---|
| Airtel | **004*08071173006# |
Jio | **004*08071173006# |
| Vodafone | **004*08071173006# |
BSNL | **004*08071173006# |
3. When it works, you’ll see the message “Registration was successful.”
Didn't work?
If you see an unsuccessful error message, you’ll need to contact your mobile carrier’s customer support.
Say to them: “Can you turn on Conditional Call Forwarding on my line for busy or unanswered calls. You can forward the calls to 08071173006"
When your carrier confirms, you can try the activation again.
2. Other common reasons your activation may pause:
If voicemail still doesn’t activate after trying the call forwarding steps. You can try these quick changes that make a big difference:
A. Dual Sim setup:
If you are using a phone with two SIM cards (Dual SIM), Truecaller Voicemail will only work for the phone number you used to register and sign up for Truecaller. It does not work on the other number.
What to try:
Go to your network settings
Select your Truecaller SIM as the default for calls
Try activating voicemail again
B. Weak mobile signal
Your phone needs a strong mobile network signal to connect with your carrier.
How to check your signal:
Look at the signal bars at the top of your phone:
1–2 bars: Weak signal
3–4 bars (or 5): Good or strong signal
If your signal is weak:
Move to an open area.
Turn off Wi-Fi and try again on mobile data.
Check that you’re connected to 4G, LTE, or 5G
