This FAQ is designed to help users in India who have selected UPI as their payment method to purchase a Truecaller Premium subscription on an iPhone.
How can I pay for a Truecaller Premium subscription on my iPhone in India?
In India, you can pay for subscriptions on the App Store using your Apple Account Balance or UPI. You can add funds to your Apple Account Balance using Netbanking or UPI. If you choose UPI as your default payment method, a UPI mandate will be set up to handle recurring payments.
When you subscribe to a Truecaller Premium plan (monthly or yearly), a UPI mandate is created to allow for automatic, recurring deductions. You will receive a notification on your UPI app to approve the initial mandate. Once approved, future payments will be processed automatically without requiring a new approval each time.
Why does the UPI mandate request show a different amount than the discounted price I saw on the App Store?
When you purchase a plan with an ongoing discount (e.g., a promotional offer for the first year), the UPI mandate will be set up for the full amount of the subscription (e.g., ₹899/year). This is to ensure that future, non-discounted payments can be processed correctly. However, you will only be charged the displayed discounted price for the first billing period (e.g., ₹669 for the first year). From the next billing period onward, you will be charged the full price as stated in the plan.
What if my payment fails?
If a UPI payment fails, it could be due to an incorrect UPI PIN, insufficient funds, or a technical issue with your bank. If the transaction fails, the amount will be reversed back to your account immediately. If the issue persists, ensure your bank account has sufficient funds and that you are using the correct UPI PIN.
